Feeding Program

As a foundation, we understand that poor access to care is a major contributor to maternal deaths in rural Sierra Leone. Changing the mindset of the community to discourage home deliveries that lack skilled birth attendants in favor of delivering their precious babies at the clinic with qualified medical professionals is a mountain we are willing to climb. The weekly feeding program is the first step to tackling undernutrition and access to care in Kabombeh Village and has increased antenatal visits by 6-fold.

The feeding program initiative is currently conducted 5 days a week and caters to pregnant women to encourage and incentivize access to care, educate them on proper nutrition, and teach them how to prepare nutritious meals for a healthy pregnancy. It also caters to lactating mothers and children under 5 in our efforts to address undernutrition in the community. Since its inception, we have fed over 5500 women and children under 5.
